I kinda like edonkey2000. It's not libre, but it's gratis, and the
reasons for keeping it non-libre seem fairly laudable, so I don't mind
much. The linux port of the GUI works fairly well, too. 

The best two things about it are the large amount of content, and the
ease of getting that content which you find. (I've had problems with
sharing programs where you can find a bunch of stuff, but it never
downloads.) 

ed2k uses hashing to enable you to download different parts of the
same file from different people, greatly speeding up file
distribution.
