You should be able to determine which config file is used by viewing the 
/var/log/XFree86.0.log file.

Also, all the distros have gui config tools, Mandrake has /usr/sbin/XFdrake.

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
