[ale] just don't "get" it . ..

I am trying to use ftp to download a file from my server.
$ ftp
$  open ftp.server.com
$ enter user
$ enter pass
$ get /home/user/file.tgz /data/file.tgz 

The last command is my guess for downloading the file and putting it in the 
/data directory of my local machine. The error message says that 
/data/file.tgz does not exist. Can someone help me write the correct command?
