[ale] Seem to have trashed 'rpm' - how do I get out of this?

Try "rpm --rebuilddb"
Then try installing the Berkley db package. The older rpm (pre 4.0) uses
db1, the newer uses db3. You may need to do a tarball build and install
to get db1 reworking if rpm is that fouled up.
