[ale] PCTel Linmodem

I've just installed the cheap a** modem purchased from CompUsa and found
the PCTel driver.  I have it loaded but I keep getting NO DIALTONE.  The
modem also seems to keep the line off hook.  Could the following
be the problems:


1.  PC is only Pentium 75
2.  Maybe I'm using the wrong chipset in the driver


I could not find realistic figures on the impact of using such a driver
only on a P75.
