This is a common trick among spammers who want to hide their 
source code, or at least raise the bar on people who would 
report their page. I recall there are some automated tools 
out there that can decipher tricks like this (and, of course, 
the 'writeln' method works most of the time too). Most spammers 
realize that this trick merely slows people down, but does not 
"hide the source code" completely. Sadly, there are web authors 
out there who still believe there are ways to hide your 
source code. The only way to do that is to pull the plug on 
your internet connection. If you can see the page, you can 
see the source. Using javascript as a requirement is a bad 
idea anyway: some of us surf without it. :)
