Thank you all for the great posts and comments. The context of the
post was basically that it was the end of the work day of Friday, I
was checking up on some of the articles on slashdot while my wife was
on her way to pick me up from work, and I ran across an article about
why "linux would lose". Here is the url if anybody is intrested. Good
article by the way, thought provoking. It was not the article that
ticked me off, it was the shallowness of the posts afterward, and it
just kinda was the straw on the camels back. My wife was on her way
to pick me up, so I thought I would send a quick email to ale to see
if anybody else felt the same way.(that is why I was in a hurry,
because I did not want to make her wait in the parking lot :)

I guess to some it up, the _angry_ people on that board represent
linux about as well as bin Laden represents the average Muslim. Some
people think that is the only way to change the situation. So anyway,
you guys are right, the best spot to see the linux community in
action is on the local level! ie the InstallFest and help on this
list. The technical responses on this list are great, but just as
important are the discussions about the ideas behind the technology,.
Why the heck to we do the things the way we do. GPL vs BSD
liciencing, C/C++/Java/Perl comparisons. The right tool for the right
job. Anyway, enough of my boring rant. Thanks...
