[ale] duplicating the partition layout?

I have to duplicate a bunch of disks.  They need identicle partition 
layouts.  

I don't want to dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb since we're only actually 
using 2 of the 18 gigs right now.

I can script "mount /dev/sdb1 /tmp/mnt; cd /; find . -mount -print | cpio"
(more details and checks of course).  Is there a quick way to actually 
duplicate just the partition info for a disk?
