[ale] PDF question

Oh yeah,

I'm very familiar with Acrobat - just don't wanna have to buy multiple
copies.

I'm still lookin for the how-to for the PDF-Print/Mailer, which lets you set
up a PDF Printer available over the internet that people can use, then
receive the PDF in their email box.

I'll post it when I find it...

Thanks

Charles

One other option.
1. Purchase Adobe Acrobat.
2. Install on Windows2000
3. Share Acrobat Distiller which is a printer
    that converts anything to PDF
4. Configure that device on client.

Cost of Acrobat: $300

ooooooookay...
Like I said - I'm not a prgrammer, and have no idea what to do with this.
I appreciate your trying to help, and I hate acting like I need my hand
held - I'd much prefer a read me with step by step instructions for
implementation - not that I expect you to sit down and write one for me. I
was just hopintg there was already something out there, which, I know there
is, because I saw it...
I'll hang on to this, though, and see if I can figure out how to use it.
Thanks
Charles

Use a PostScript drive in Windows to print to your printer on Linux.

#Sample Filter - May be wrong or right
#
TMPFILE=/tmp/ps2pdf.filter.$$
cat > $TMPFILE
/usr/bin/ps2pdf $TMPFILE ${TMPFILE}.pdf
mv /tmp/${TMPFILE}.pdf /home/pdf_storage_area
rm $TMPFILE
#end

I know that sounds easy - but you see, I am, alas, not a programmer.
I do seem to recall a how-to on this, somewhere, some time ago, but have
searched in vain for it for two days now.
Can you give me a few hints? How-to?
Thanks
Charles

Why don't you just write a print filter that elimates the step. It allows
them to print directly to a PDF. You can even have it mailed back to them.

Does anyone know of a simple way of using ps2pdf from the gui, like
drag'n'drop?
I want our users to be able to print to a PS file, then just drag the file
to an icon that will convert the PS file to a PDF in the same directory that
it currently resides (usually their home directory or their desktop).
Or better yet, is there an open source PDF Print Driver that can be
installed?
Tis for any suggestions
Charles
