Fw: [ale] good linux / debian

Ahh yes, Debian. Debian already *has*
"ditched rpm", or rather, just uses *.deb files instead of *.rpm. I still
don't like them ;). My big problem with the Debian is the user
community. It's like a bunch of devout Mormons.
Â
For example, on a generic linux or kde or whatever
IRC channel, I can ask a question. Immediately, the two debian users make
themselves known by saying something like the following:
Â
<cshobe> Any ideas on this
problem?
<debianman> Do you use debian?
<cshobe> No, I run an LFS.
<debianman2> You should run
debian.
<debianman> lfs is a waste of time, you
should get debian.
<debianman2> apt-get is the solution to all
of life's problems.
<cshobe> No thanks, if I wanted a
distribution, I'd go back to Slackware.
<debianman> Slackware sucks.
<debianman2> All the distributions but debian
suck!
<debianman> Yeah, you should run
debian.
<someotherguy> cshobe: try doing
this:
Â
It's something I have to deal with almost
constantly, and it right well pisses me off. It's because of this attitude
that I've never tried Debian and have no desire too. So that's my opinion
on that :)

No one has mentioned Debian. I am not that familiar with
Debian overall, but aptget as an update mechanism is considered so superior
that there has been some talk of ditching rpm in favor of it.
