This will probably not help much..
but it is probably appearing to hang as it tries to connect to your identd
'server'.  If you haven't, you'll need to install it(the rpm on most distros
is pidentd(somethingorother).rpm).
Now, getting the identd configured correctly is yet another topic...

I am having problems w/ Bastille configuration on a Mandrake 8 box.  When I
try to telnet to irc or connect via whichever client...this is as far as I
can get:

:astro.ga.us.dal.net NOTICE AUTH :*** Looking up your hostname...
:astro.ga.us.dal.net NOTICE AUTH :*** Checking Ident
:astro.ga.us.dal.net NOTICE AUTH :*** Found your hostname
:PING astro.ga.us.dal.net

....and then it hangs.  I added echo-request to ICMP_ALLOWED_TYPES and am
unable to connect.  I may be missing something.

Any ideas/suggestions welcomed.
