Anyone played with caller id? I get so many unsolicited faxes, I'm
trying to set up call rejection via caller id. My modem is picking up
the data, just not processing it correctly. Here's what I see in the
mgetty log file:
CND: check no: 'none'
07/06 07:55:58 yS1 CND: check vs: 678
07/06 07:55:58 yS1 CND: check vs: 770
07/06 07:55:58 yS1 CND: check vs: 404
07/06 07:55:58 yS1 CND: check vs: 732
07/06 07:55:58 yS1 CND: check vs: none
07/06 07:55:58 ##### denied caller dev=ttyS1, pid=27013, caller='none'
07/06 07:55:58 yS1 waiting for line to clear (VTIME), read:
[0d][0a][80]&[01][08]07060756[02][0a]7705174311[07][0e]AT&T VOICE
FOR[e1][0d][0a][0d][0a]RING[0d][0a][0d][0a]RING[0d][0a]
It appears to be properly checking for the prefix of the number
(678,770,404,732). The final check is rejecting any calls when there's
no caller id. Note the number I'm calling from is listed below those
lines (7705174311), but there should be a match with the 770 prefix.
The modem is apparently incorrectly determining that there is no caller
id, yet the data is presented following the rejection. I've set the
modem up for both formatted and unformatted callerid data. The
formatted data is presented as follows:
07/06 07:50:49 yS1 waiting for line to clear (VTIME), read:
[0d][0a]DATE = 0706[0d][0a]TIME = 0751[0d][0a]NMBR =
7705174311[0d][0a]NAME = AT&T VOICE
FOR[0d][0a][0d][0a]RING[0d][0a][0d][0a]RING[0d][0a][0d][0a]RING[0d][0a]
Yet, neither works. Any suggestions?
By the way, this is really cool in that when the call is denied, the
phone is not even answered. I believe this is dependent upon your
modem, mine is a US Robotics 56K fax.
