Glenn,
I agree that rebooting should have re-loaded your
libraries. Chances are pretty good that you need to switch the *order*
in which you placed your libraries in /etc/ld.so.conf. Ie, if two copies
of the same library are specified in your library paths, I believe that
ld uses the last one that it loads (that or the first, can't
remember). Try swapping the order in which you added your new library
path.
