[ale] Maddening xv (or wm?) behavior

Hi,

Please forgive for this incredibly lame question.

I'm doing some stuff where I need to grab images from windows
using xv. I'm running Gnome with Sawfish as the wm. The
problem is that no matter how I set the window-manager
settings, xv without fail places its image window at the
very top of the screen, with the title bar off the edge
so I can't move the bloody window! I've been wading
through the Gnome documentation, but haven't found any
obvious way to move a window whose title bar is off the
screen. I have the same problem occasionally with other
apps as well, but xv is very stubborn about it. This is
really driving me nuts; any help is appreciated.
