[ale] Copy harddrive with dd?

Some background:

HDA = 8 gig drive
HDB = 30 gig drive

Can I do this:

dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb

to copy the contents of drive a onto drive b and then boot from drive b?
Anyone have any suggestions or comments before I attempt this?!
