[ale] Samba and Basic

Charles,
At first glance it sure seems like a permission problem since the *only*
change on the linux server side is Samba. Did you just reinstall or did
you upgrade a version number? You might check to make sure that the
umask and Samba permission are making sense on her files. Since the
"mangling" is fixed, she might have read, execute permissions only and
no write permissions.
