You shouldn't have to worry about any AT commands.  If you have set the 
right serial port, speed, and flow control correctly it should work.



A -    Serial Device      : /dev/ttyS0
B - Lockfile Location     : /var/lock
C -   Callin Program      :
D -  Callout Program      :
E -    Bps/Par/Bits       : 9600 8N1
F - Hardware Flow Control : No
G - Software Flow Control : No

I haven't used minicom for HP, but I have for a Sun box and the above 
works for me.
