Being on a dhcp cable modem I have to deal with my network going away
every now and then. Usually it's not much of a proble, but sometimes
afterwards I stop receiving email. When this happens I restart sendmail and
I get this:
{0}:wally:/var/log>/etc/init.d/sendmail start
Starting mail transport agent: <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78DdOWp004454> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78DfuWp004465> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78DgpWp004469> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78DiDWp004472> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78DjdWp004475> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78DmRWp004478> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78DvlWp004492> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78DxEWp004495> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78E00Wp004506> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78E2jWp004521> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78E6UWp004525> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78E87Wp004528> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78E9QWp004530> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78EGCWp004550> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff78EJFWp004554> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Qff78DdOWp004454> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Qff78DfuWp004465> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Qff78DgpWp004469> <panic: /var/spoo
It usually scrolls a good bit farther but I cut it down. I look in
/var/spool/mqueue and I see this:
-rw-r----- 1 root mail 2601 Aug 8 08:06 Dff78E6UWp004525
-rw-r----- 1 root mail 2895 Aug 8 08:08 Dff78E87Wp004528

.
.

no lowercase q or d either.
In order to get mail working again I have to stop mail, rm all the files
and restart them.
Any thoughts on what's causing this? It works great 99% of the time and
only gives me grief when the cable modem gets hosed.
:wq!
