As others have said, those were your virtual consoles. They are very
useful on a box so you might want to get them back. A lot of
distributions install mingetty. If you're running an RPM based
distrib, you can do a rpm -qa | grep getty
Look for mingetty as one of the packages found. You can do rpm -q
mingetty and it should return something but the previous will probably
grab whatever getty you got. I'm not sure about debian because I don't
do a lot of debian type stuff.

If you have mingetty, you can try replacing the /sbin/agetty 38400
ttyx linux on all those lines with /sbin/mingetty ttyx
That should use mingetty for your consoles.
