[ale] Open-Source Document->PS->PDF solution

Hi,

I am looking for an Open Source solution for creating PDF
documents on the fly (personalized letters/fax covers etc),
but haven't been able to find anything.  Does anyone have
any ideas?  I have been told there is an Open-Source
solution for converting a PS file to a PDF.  Is it easy to
print to a PS file in Linux (understand, I'm a Linux
newbie).
