[ale] Cable Modem

I talked to someone in the know at Charter(actually Convergence does all
their stuff) because I was setting up OpenBSD and I couldn't get the gateway
209.186.12.1 to work. It had to do with the routing. He told me that most
*.*.*.1 addresses were actually set up as gateways on their network so now I
use the *.*.*.1 as my gateway and everything works fine. Just an FYI...

John,

Charter did some strange stuff to me. my IP is 209.187.161.xxx, my
gateway
is 209.186.12.1 go figure. I had to add a static route to my gateway
in
order for things to work. I would check route first, make sure your
default
gateway is in there, and make sure there is a route to it...
