Hello,
Today I ran into a problem that I'm not sure how I caused. Everything
began fine and then I started backing up files from my dos partition and
occasionally view some of the graphics to see what they were with zgv.
After I did that, I switched to another virtual terminal and tried to
login. It failed and I have tried it with the other usernames and the
only one it will login with is root. I tried reading some of the
documentation and verifying permissions and such, but to no avail.
Perhaps someone here has seen this and could tell me how to fix it?
Here is the last few lines of /var/log/messages: (Note that they all say
(uid=0) whereas before the problem they showed the correct uid)

If I try to su to any user I get this:
su: cannot run /bin/bash: Permission denied
When I try to login, it flashes a message really fast which disappears
but after trying many times, it finally locked up and said:
...Normal login stuff...
You have mail.
No directory /home/michael!
Logging in with home = "/"
login: no shell: Permission denied
INIT: Id "2" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
I don't know if this is related, but if I try to view an info file with
pinfo I get:
Error opening terminal: linux.
Anyone know how I can fix this or is there any other info I can provide?
The distro is Mandrake 7.1.
Thanks in advance,
Michael Golden
