[ale] perl5 install error

Greetings !

Regarding perl5.00502 installation, when I.....

	make <ret>

I get the following error msg.....

	/usr/lib/crt1.o: In function '-start':
	undefined reference to 'main'
	cc: file path prefix 'shareable' never used
	Error code 1

Configure.sh ran OK when I used all the defaults.

What's going on and what is the remedy ?
