[ale] HOWTO: boot from -> hdc <- dd'd from hda & hdb

Hey Courtney,

I've done this once just upgrading from a small disk to a large one. Follow the guidelines in the "Hard-Disk-Upgrade" mini-HOWTO. As I remember, it is very well written. It will walk you through using lilo to write a MBR to a disk other than your primary.

Also, when you moved your data over, did you remember to exclude directories like /proc and /mnt?

Also, when you set up the lilo.conf on the new disk, make sure you configure it to be hda and then switch the IDE cables, so that it is hda, before you try booting from it.

If you run into a jam, email me.
