[ale] Setup & XConfigurator broken in my RedHat system...

rpm -Va will definitely do the trick. See man rpm for an explanation of what the output means. You should not be surprised to find a long list of changed packages on an existing system.
My suggestion is to install the XF86Setup rpm and use it instead of Xconfigurator. I have found it easier to use, especially on newer video cards.
Alternatively, use rpm to find Xconfigurator's dependencies and reinstall each of the packages.
The Gnome rpm tool will also verify packages for you if you prefer a GUI. I think it is called gnorpm.
