[ale] Multiple problems

I've been using Linux, SuSE 6.4 and RH6.1, on the server side for a
while, and have just gone to Linux on the Desktop, 100%. I am having
some problems and need someone to point me in the right direction.

1. Video. I am using onboard Sis 6326 video with 8 mb ram and a
Mitsubishi 87TXM monitor, with a VSync of 50 - 117 Hz and a HSync of 30
- 86Khz. I am using the XF86_SVGA X server. I can't use the higher
resolutions with 24bit video because the server won't go higher than 104
Hz. At lesser resolution/color modes, I get artifacts all over the
place. ie. Wrong/changing colors, flashing and other strange behavior.
Is there a new driver? I used sax. Do I need to use XF86Config?

2. Netscape. As root, it works fine, as a user, it creates the lock file
and stops. I'm pretty sure it is a permission problem and I'm hoping
someone has seen it already.

I have a few other minor problems, but these two are the biggies.
Thanks in Advance
Ed.
