[ale] Stripping EOL Characters with samba

This issue has been discussed on the Samba list. There's really nothing
you can do about it, from a Samba perspective. Your only option is to
run a script against the file after the M$ editing is complete.
I even wrote a perl script that strips the stuff out and tried using it
from a windows machine while editing a file across samba. No go.
Apparently, when you write a line out from a windows box, you get the
extra character regardless. Point is, to fix this, you'll have to do it
from the UNIX side, unless you have some kind of windows binary editor
that will write the file without these characters (shudder...).
We have a similar problem at work, in that all my folks (but me) use
windows for their development. They send their html to another group
that supports the server (running UNIX) and the server group has to
strip the extra characters out.
