A combination of suggestions - melded into one ...
We ghosted the small drive to the big one, booted with the rescue disk,
edited lilo.conf to include the line "linear", did a "change root" to point
to the new drive (instead of the "rescue" version running in RAM), ran
lilo -v -C /etc/lilo.conf.
After all this we just had to take the additional (unalocated) 14.5 gig and
partition it and move the directories over.
We are an ISP. This machine is the email server for 2000 new users who
start coming on board tommorow (8:00 AM). Yes, the word "stress" may be
applied, but was greatly reduced by the quick guidance offered by you folks.
