[ale] weird permissions problem

I finally got the vid card and everything working. Problem I have now is 
that user accounts cannot use any of the internet apps such as 
ncftp/irc/lynx/tin .. etc.

Everything works fine as root but nothing for any of the user accounts. 
Anyone seen this one before?

BTW ... the drivers for my voodoo3 2000 card that I downloaded broke 
Xconfigurator. Shrug ... probably something I did wrong ... I simply wanted 
to let someone else know about it. I bought a new card and this one was 
supported B).
