Mike,

We have used Linksys cards in the past and your experience with Linux is not
so much different than we had in the M$ world. We have a number of Linux
boxes, mostly using the D-Link or Netgear 100TX PCI cards and Intel Pro 10+
ISA for 10BaseT. They work just fine and at around $30-35 they don't break
the budget.
