I have a Promise Ultra66 IDE controller card and a Western Digital 18.0
GB EIDE 7200 RPM hard drive. Promise came out with a driver for this
setup, but it is for Redhat 6.0 with kernel 2.2.5. I have worked my way
to Mandrake 6.1 with kernel 2.2.13-7mdk. i have it setup to that burn
cd's, run Quake3, Unreal demo, get pics from my digital camera and most
every thing else I want to do, I'm a newbie and there was a "LOT" of
pain just for me to get where I am today. I'm not wanting to go back to
Redhat 6.0 (i do have the box sets of 5.2 and 6.0) it just does not work
as well as Mandrake 6.1 for me, ie.: I could not get a kernel complied
and working right in Redhat for burning CD's with a IDE burner. So I'm
looking for any help I can get in get the 18 gig on line in linux. I
would even settle for just being able to use the drive for storage if I
can not install linux on it. So far at boot this is what my system is
seeing at boot:
