6000 hits an hour .... that's 1.6 average per second, assuming each one will be served within the mark .9 sec. asuming each request will take about 2500 instructions to execute, you would need at PII (I
would strongly recommend dual(as you are expected to grow)), and min of 512 MB Ram, SCSI min, raid would be much better.
And yes you can run servlets with apache jserv, it runs pretty well. I recommend it.
