You are thinking about two different things.  The question was about
Virtual screen size, what you refer to is virtual desktops.  Virtual
screen size allows your desktop to be larger than the viewable screen
area.  It's not a problem it just annoys some people.  Virtual desktops
allow you to have multiple desktops that you can switch back and forth
between.  your virtual screen size would be the same on all desktops.
personally, I use virtual desktops like they're going out of style.
virtual screen size bugs me:)
