Try the CD-Writing-HOWTO. The latest version is at 

http://www.guug.de/~winni/linux/cdr/html/

I use scd1, but YMMV depending on your machine's setup. 

Most/all of the HOWTOs on all releases of RedHat and Mandrake are
very old. I don't know about Caldera.
