Go get a bunch of floppies, then:

mkdir foo
mv file.tar.gz foo
cd foo
bsplit -b 1300k file.tar.gz

Use the floppies to move the resulting files to an empty directory on
the standalone machine. 

Then, from the empty directory on the standalone machine, use 

cat * >file.tar.gz

to put them back together.
