[ale] Redhat 6.0 and KDE

That's strange....  I have installed 6.0 on 3 separate machines and have not had one problem out of it....

Must be quirky with certain hardware?

You instincts are correct, you can use the rpm command to just remove all the
default kde related libraries and then install your own. There has been plenty
of discussion on just this topic on the Redhat lists and in the newsgroups.
Basically, it appears that Redhat included an unstable beta with their
distribution. If you install the KDE 1.1.1 version, it seems to be much more
stable.

Mandrake 6.0 is a version of Redhat 6.0 that already has the corrected version
of KDE that you want. Its available inexpensively from cheapbytes.com
