A friend of mine writes:
----------------------------------
I'm running mandrake 6.1.
I am trying to setup drives on a promise IDE controller to work with drives on the main motherboard.
Here is my drive config
sda 9 gig scsi
sdb 9 gig scsi
hda 17gig ide on motherboard
hdb 17gig ide on motherboard
hde 40gig ide on primary device of promise
hdg 40gig ide on secondary device of promise
No matter what order i put the appends into lilo.conf I get a "BAD CONFIG" Option after the second option.
I have tried kernels 2.2.14pre13, pre14, pre16 and pre17.
with
append="hde=4982,255,63 hdg=4982,255,63 hda=2100,255,63 hdb=2100,255,63"
i get
Detected 233868646 Hz processor.
ide_setup: hde=4982,255,63
ide_setup: hdg=4982,255,63
ide_setup: hda=2100 -- BAD OPTION
Console: colour VGA+ 80x25
in dmesg
with
append="ide2=0xdc00,0xe002 ide3=0xe400,0xe802 hde=4982,255,63 hdg=4982,255,63"
i get
Detected 233866685 Hz processor.
ide_setup: ide2=0xdc00,0xe002
ide_setup: ide3=0xe400,0xe802
Console: colour VGA+ 80x25
Any combination of appends and it truncates about 40 char's into the append.
the full append line i would like is
append="hda=2100,255,63 hdb=2100,255,63 ide2=0xdc00,0xe002 ide3=0xe400,0xe802 hde=4982,255,63 hdg=4982,255,63"
so that i don't have to worry about my disk geometry changing on a whim.

Anything anyone know that can help him?
