I've read that Rubini's book is being updated.
I saw a reference (& recommendation) yesterday on the kernel mailing
list to "Linux Core Kernel Commentary", so I just bought it (US $39.99).
ISBN is 1-57610-469-9.

Alessandro Rubini's "Linux Device Drivers" is a good hands-on
introduction and includes some kernel internals as well. It's from
O'Reilly (ISBN 1-56592-292-1). On the downside, it's getting old. It
covers mostly the 2.0 kernels and some things from the 2.1 series but
reading the online docs is easier after reading the book.
Does anyone know if there's an update in the works?
