This has never happenned to me, but did you try e2fsck yet? If that fails, it looks like e2fsck -b 8193 <device> will try to recover the alternate superblock you can probably find <device> in your /etc/fstab -- Joe Morris, SysAdmin and Not Insane 269 days, 7 hours, 20 minutes, 19 seconds (GMT) until Y2K.
