I had an external Motorola ModemSURFR 56K and had no problems with
it on Linux... I used it from when they first came out until about 3 weeks
ago when it got fried in a thunderstorm... I just used "AT&F&C1&D2" as my
init string and never had a problem connecting... I always got a steady
reliable 44K connect everytime...
