Christopher Fowler was asking about getting a PowerStack system to boot:

I believe a PowerStack system is a PREP machine rather than a Mac clone so
you will need to use the boot images from ftp.nmt.edu/pub/linuxppc

There are also several web pages on the subject such as www.linuxppc.org
and www.cs.wisc.edu/~tesch/linux_info/

The Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic site
http://www.dartmouth.edu/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/jonh/lppc/faq.pl
also has lots of info available.

Warning there are different sources for the PowerMac based systems verses
the PREP systems so make sure whatever your working with is correct for
your machine. They are working on merging the two and getting them
all incorperated into the distributed kernels but it is not 100%
complete yet.
