Yes.  You had it correct in your post.  Just make sure that you do it just
like you described so the subnet boundaries fall in the correct places, i.e:

xxx.yyy.zzz.0/24

    to

xxx.yyy.zzz.0/25
xxx.yyy.zzz.128/25

    to

xxx.yyy.zzz.0/25
xxx.yyy.zzz.128/26
xxx.yyy.zzz.192/26

    etc.

I also put some perl scripts at ftp://ftp.comstar.net/pub/misc/ that will
split and join network blocks.  They're not really tested and packaged for
release, but they'll work if you need them.
