By definition, NetBios is not a protocol or a network standard, it is an
API (net Basic Input/Output System). MS's netowrk talks NetBios. It is
easy to implement and cheap to configure. However, it has not
networking capabilities. i.e. it is running diorect command tothe card,
to the nets. TCP/IP runs TCP as the protocol, and thus the network,
using IP datagrams as the standard. Thus it is routable. SPX/IPX is
similar.
So MS's network is not routable as such, but it can be tunnel through
other protocols (Novell, Token Ring, and of course, TCP/IP). This is
how many NT netowrks are setup.
