formats. At the office where I work we have 3 of the 4, and they are
not interchangeable.
The error message seems to be from the low level hardware driver. You
might be sol.

I have a SCSI Exabyte drive on my Linux system at home and a SCSI
Exabyte drive on my sun at work. They both use the 8mm video tape
format of tapes.
When I tar something onto a tape on the Sun and try to read it under
Linux, I am told something along the lines of
could not read /dev/st0: read error or device full
However when I tar something up on my Linux box, the Sun can read it
just fine.
Any clues as to how I can get the Linux box to read what the Sun
writes? I'm just doing tar vc * on both boxes to archive and tar vt on
both to list it.
Thanks!!!
