Look for something called l3enc/l3dec There is a version of this for DOS
and many Unicies. There is a registered and non-registered version. The
registered version of the encoder allows you to do a bit more (there is a
readme explaining it.) It should do what you want, as the non-reged
version will do CD quality 112kbs stereo @44.1khz. I've used it to take
.mp3's into .wav's and then cut a CD from the wavs.
If you hit MPEG-3 FAQ, it should have the address on where to get it in
there. Also, if you hit Altavista, you can find a registration code,
but I know nothing about that.
