[ale] Fuzzy fonts, help

I'm running a CL5424 video card in 1024x768 mode with a Interlaced monitor.
I am getting fuzzy fonts.  How can I change the font so it will not be fuzzy? 
What video card will work easily under Linux and give me the BEST video.
