[ale] How can I determine my own dynamic IP domain name?

Hare: When pppd connects, it will run /etc/ppp/ip-up. The 4th argument
Hare: to this script is your local ip address. Likewise, pppd will run
Hare: /etc/ppp/ip-down upon termination. Read the man page for pppd.
Hare: Search for ip-up for all the parameters.

Tortoise: Thanks for the input. I will certainly do this, but I think
I know the answer -- I will find my account name as a subdomain of
remote.gatech.edu:
     <acme_logname>.remote.gatech.edu

This domain name does not appear usable from the other end of the
link, however. _Remote_ hosts need to ineract with a domain name:
     gtri-<nn>.remote.gatech.edu
where 'nn' is assigned when ppp-up (in my system) has successfully
established a connection. In effect, I'm trying to learn 'nn' from
my end, so I can provide it to remote hosts. You do give me another
idea: I capture a 'ppp_log' of the link initiation -- I'll look there
and see whether the remotely assigned domain name appears in the log.

Thanks for the suggestions.
