But it should have gone through to the MX for kenyon.edu:

  bash$ nslookup
  Default Server: ns1.private.mindspring.com
  Address: 192.168.254.4

  > set query=MX
  > kenyon.edu
  Server: ns1.private.mindspring.com
  Address: 192.168.254.4

  KENYON.EDU preference = 0, mail exchanger = kcvax3.KENYON.EDU
  KENYON.EDU nameserver = vax001.KENYON.EDU
  KENYON.EDU nameserver = ns2.sprintlink.net
  kcvax3.KENYON.EDU internet address = 138.28.2.6
  vax001.KENYON.EDU internet address = 138.28.1.2
  ns2.sprintlink.net internet address = 199.2.252.10
  >

kcvax3.kenyon.edu should be recieving mail destined for kenyon.edu.

The problem is on their end, not yours.
