Electronic Frontiers Georgia
=========================================================================
MEETING:: There will be an Electronic Frontiers Georgia meeting on
Tuesday, May 14th. We will be meeting at the Denny's near Piedmont and
Monroe. We will meet about 6:30 for dinner, with the official meeting
starting at 7:30. Georgia Legislator Mitchell Kaye (http://www.gahouse.com)
who has been fighting the "Internet Police Bill" will be present. We
will be discussing HB1630, the impact of the internet on government, the
netucation working group, and the EFG flyers. Blue ribbons and other
freebies will be distributed. Please come out and join us.
DIRECTIONS:: From Georgia Tech; take W. Peachtree Street North to
Buford HW. (bare left), then take the second(?) exit for Piedmont
and Monroe. The Denny's is up on your left. You will be able to see
it from the exit ramp. (This is MUCH easier than it sounds. :)

General EFG Blurb:
Electronic Frontiers Georgia is a civil liberties organization
that has been formed to fight for freedom, privacy, and access on
Georgia's Electronic Frontier. As this new medium of decentralized
telecommunications moves from the fringe into the main stream, it has and
will continue to be challenged by the powers that be. We have already
seen many challenges to freedom of speech and privacy online. We must
stand up and fight to preserve the freedom of expression, privacy,
openness, and empowerment that make this medium so great. If we don't,
we will assuredly loose these freedoms.
We plan to accomplish this mission by making the people of Georgia
aware of pending legislation that affects them. Through our mailing lists
and web pages we will publish information and encourage discussion on the
many complex issues facing the net. Furthermore, we will attempt to make
our Georgia government aware of the importance of keeping computer networks
free and open.
