}Hi all,
} I have been trying to set up a PPP link to school with dynamic IP, so
}far with no luck. I hope somebody could shed a light on this. As checking
}the manpage of chat and pppd, I still don't know what kind my chat script
}should like cause when I am using Win95 dial-up, I have to do the following:
}
}At the prompt, say
}
}UA>login
}username: pxu at buster.eng.ua.edu
}password: my_password
}UA>ppp
}......(some messy messages)...
}
}Your help highly appreciated, hope I could have it run and use popclient
}later. Thanx
}

}

}*  Pinwu Xu                                                      *
}*  pxu at buster.eng.ua.edu                                         *
}*  pxu3 at ua1vm.ua.edu                                             *
}*  http://www.eng.ua.edu/college/people/pxu/index.html           *
}*                                                                *
}******************************************************************

Here is a copy of my ppp script:

	/usr/lib/ppp/pppd  connect isppp.chat debug \
		defaultroute netmask 255.255.255.0 /dev/cua0 38400

Here is a copy of my chat script with phone#, password and id changed:

/usr/lib/ppp/chat -v '' atz OK 'atdt5551234\d\d\r' '' '\r' in:--in: MYID \
	word: MYPASS PPP

Now this is just an example. The chat script is basically and send/receive
sequence. This will vary from one ISP to another. You need to read the PPP
and chat man pages. You can also check out the HOWTO docs. If you don't
have the HOWTO's you can download them. Chances are, if you downloaded Linux,
you can download the HOWTOs or if you are loading Linux from cdrom, the
HOWTO's are on there... Give it a shot and post questions if you have
problems.
